The Inspiration
About a year ago, during a fishing trip in November 2012-2017, Kanicen Nix, the inventor behind “SENGAT,” experienced an unexpected inspiration. After being stung by bees, leaving 12 marks, the idea for SENGAT was born. Derived from our language, SENGAT translates to “STUNG,” a fitting name chosen by Kanicen Nix, reflecting both local branding and the rod’s promise to bring joy to anglers. Even now, the memory brings a smile, serving as an extra source of motivation for the team as they embarked on this unique project.
“SENGAT” stands as the world’s first fishing rod exclusively designed for Indo-Pacific Tarpon. This category, innovated by Kanicen Nix, caters to Southeast Asian anglers passionate about Tarpon fishing. THE FEATURES
The Length, Lure Weight, The Action & The Poundage
To ensure optimal performance for both spinning and bait casting, we carefully selected lengths of 6’7″ and 6’4″ for the SENGAT rod. These lengths are perfect for targeting Tarpon and provide excellent balance for anglers who prefer longer rods. Soft baits are the ideal game for this rod, but it’s versatile enough to handle any small lures, including topwater and cranks with sizes 5cm and below. The development process for the SENGAT rod has been a significant challenge, as we aimed to cater to anglers of varying experience levels while targeting the specific game of Indo-Pacific Tarpon. Over the course of nearly 7 months, we meticulously evaluated various blank options before settling on a 12K fine carbon with 24T high modulus construction. This unique blend offers a sensitive top section for detecting strikes and a slightly stiffer bottom section to absorb pressure during the fight. The high density of the carbon blank provides exceptional strength and sensitivity, crucial for the intended game.
Constructing the blank required intense concentration and expertise, as its fine nature demanded precision engineering. We collaborated closely with experienced rod manufacturers to ensure that the production met our exact specifications. This process entailed significant investment in terms of effort, resources, and time, but ultimately resulted in a product that met our stringent standards of quality and performance.
